2024 GWA Brand Ambassador Scholarship-Award Recipient

Maycey Kight

Congratulations to Maycey Kight on being awarded the 2024 GWA Brand Ambassador scholarship and opportunity to represent the Georgia Watermelon association throughout the year. 

Maycey is from Moultrie, Georgia and is attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a concentration in Crop and Soil Science.  She is currently a part-time employee with Clifton Seed Company, assisting in melon trials, packing, and delivering seeds to growers.  Maycey plans to further her education by obtaining a master’s degree in plant protection and pest management at UGA.  She aspires to enter the seed industry, focusing mainly on watermelon and produce crops.  Maycey looks forward to becoming a sales representative for the east coast.  She loves spending time outdoors hunting, golfing, boating, and traveling.

This position is part of the overall promotional effort of the Georgia Watermelon Association to increase sales. The GWA Brand Ambassador spends the year creating content around retail, social media, farm tours throughout Georgia and the nation, interacting with consumers to drive engagement and boost sales while educating everyone about the nutritional benefits and economical value of watermelon.


2023 Georgia Watermelon Queen

Charley Lollis

The Georgia Watermelon Queen Tour is part of the overall promotional effort of the Georgia Watermelon Association to increase sales. The Georgia Watermelon Queen is selected annually as an AMBASSADOR for the watermelon industry. The competition will be awarded at the Georgia Watermelon Association Annual Meeting.

The Queen spends the yeDawsonadams3 Smar traveling to cities throughout Georgia and the nation, talking to people in supermarkets, at fairs and festivals, telling everyone about the nutritional benefits, and economical values of watermelon.  At the end of her reign, the GWA Queen will compete for the title of National Watermelon Queen at the NWA Annual Meeting & Convention.

Ms. Charley Lollis is serving as 2023 GWA Queen!  Charley is the 22-year-old daughter of Chip and Natalie Lollis.  She is a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Communication and a minor in Agribusiness.  Charley is employed as a Territory Sales Manager for AgBiome.  While a student at ABAC, Charley spent many days as their ambassador giving tours to prospective families and students.  Charley is proud to have received the David and Kim Bridges Award which is given to the most outstanding student who excels in leadership, scholarship, and citizenship.  She enjoys spending time with her family and her Australian Shepherd, Zuke (short for zucchini).  Charley’s favorite moments are visiting local farmers markets and other agritourism destinations, traveling, and listening to podcasts.
